Sucker for Love Crush Landing Getting Started with Crush Landing
Survive the crash, meet Hheily, and do not spend your first color like junk.
Sucker for Love: Crush Landing opens like a night-shift confession, not a ritual. You play a host in an early-1990s city, walking a “date” home after the club. The monologue is long on purpose: Akabaka wants you stuck in this guy’s shallow, probably-short life before a meteorite punches through the apartment wall. If you mash through the intro, you will miss why later visitor scenes sting.
This page is the first-hour checklist. Pair it with how to play for HUD and controls, and with how to feed Hheily before you open the fridge.
Before you touch anything glowing
Create a new save as soon as the game lets you. Crush Landing supports save-anytime on Steam, and launch players already report bricked color routes. One file named “before meteorite” and one named “after first feed” will save you more time than any ending chart.
The apartment is a 360-degree hand-drawn 2D space, a remix of the room from First Date rather than the sprawling house from Date to Die For. Spin the camera. Note the fridge, freezer, counters, plant, gifts, and the hole in the wall. Those props are the puzzle board. They are not flavor.
The crash and the phone call
After you drop the work friend off and start back toward the club, the meteorite hits. It does not level the building. It sits in the room and glows. A phone call follows: a friend who conveniently knows university researchers. Help is coming. In the demo, that help is a real-time wait of about ten minutes with a timer at the top of the screen. You are not meant to stand still. You are meant to keep the glow alive until someone knocks.
First branching choice: hand or “something else”
The meteorite can be touched with your hand or with “something else.” This is the tutorial’s only truly lethal joke.
- Hand: your hand necrotizes. Color drains out of the skin. It is ugly, and it is the correct route. Hheily can appear as a shapeshifting date after this sacrifice.
- Something else: PC Gamer and multiple playthroughs document a full-body ash ending. Courting stops. You have not unlocked the love interest.
- Not touching at all: preview coverage describes a stranger who looks like the protagonist showing up instead. Treat that as a bad or weird branch, not the romance path.
Steam users have already asked for an achievement for the “something else” option. If you want that joke ending, do it on a throwaway file. The romance run starts with the hand. Details live in how to play and the neutral and bad endings page.
Meeting Hheily
Once the hand is gone, the meteorite can take a human shape. Hheily is the Colour Out of Space with a Halley pun in her name. She is gentle, confused, and bad at language. Early dialogue is a parrot act: she can only use words you have already spoken, then slowly steals more of your vocabulary. That is a character rule, not a bug. The Hheily profile and the romance guide unpack why talking like a thesaurus actually matters.
She will not stay in babe form. She slinks back into the rock. Your job is to feed the flame so the glow does not die while you wait for the researchers.
First feeding rules
Do not throw the nearest fridge item into the fire. Confirmed demo colors include purple grapes, a red gift, a green plant, and blue crawfish. Flora, a visitor, can offer colored flowers that fill gaps. The hard rule: after Hheily consumes a color, other items of that color stop helping. Spend purple on grapes and you may not have purple later when the puzzle actually asks for it.
Read the colored items list and the puzzle walkthrough before the timer gets loud. Keep at least one unique hue in reserve if you care about the true ending.
The door will knock
The whole city saw the impact. People come upstairs. Some are useful. Flora is the example every preview names: take the flowers. A scammer will try to waste your time; slamming the door is allowed and often correct. Visitor logic is part of the date, not a skippable cutscene. The supporting cast page lists who is worth a conversation.
What “done with the first hour” looks like
You have:
- A save from before the touch and a save after Hheily appears.
- Touched the meteorite with your hand.
- Learned the HUD colors and flame bar from how to play.
- Fed at least one carefully chosen color, not a panic dump.
- Answered or refused the first visitors on purpose.
From there, go to the full walkthrough if you want a route, or the ending checklist if you are already hunting names like Host, Got Off Easy, Blackout, Worth It, and the demo true end. The review can wait until you have seen one clean flame cycle.
Crush Landing is single-player. There is no party to carry you. The apartment is the whole board until later chapters pull in uninvited guests and the darkness that followed Hheily. Treat the first hour as resource setup, not as a visual novel you can autopilot.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Should I touch the meteorite with my hand in Crush Landing?
Yes, if you want to meet Hheily. “Something else” is a documented ash ending. Use a spare save if you want to see it.
How long is the first wait after the crash?
In the demo, assistance is a roughly ten-minute real-time timer. Use that window to inventory colors, not to stand still.
Do I need to play First Date or Date to Die For first?
No. Crush Landing is a new host and a new comet. Series context helps, but the character hub is enough.
What should I feed Hheily first?
Nothing until you have counted unique colors. See how to feed Hheily and the colored items list.
