Sucker for Love Crush Landing How to Feed Hheily
Keep the comet’s flame alive without spending a color you will need later.
Feeding Hheily is the mechanical heart of Sucker for Love: Crush Landing. There is no pink book. There is a meteorite in your living room that wants pigment, and a flame bar that punishes you for treating the fridge like a trash can. This guide is the system. The colored items list is the pantry. The puzzle walkthrough is the timed route.
What “feed the flame” means
Hheily arrives low on energy. Official copy says you must blaze her back to full strength before the fire is snuffed out, or the world — and the date — goes with her. In play, that is a glow you stoke by giving the meteorite objects of particular colors. Plants grow weird. Neighboring animals mutate. Your hand, if you touched her correctly in getting started, is already a preview of what uncolored flesh looks like.
The flame is not a dump stat. Previews are explicit: you need specific colors to progress, and once a color is consumed, you cannot feed other items of that same color later. That is the brick condition. Purple grapes are funny until you need purple for a later request and the grapes already went into the rock.
The one-color-once rule
Write this on a sticky note:
- Survey every colored prop before the first feed.
- Ask whether this hue appears on more than one item.
- If yes, keep the unique or late-game version. Spend the replaceable one only if the flame is actually dying.
- If a visitor can restock that hue, you may spend more freely. Flora’s colored flowers are the known restock.
- Save before every first-time color.
Items also change color. Noisy Pixel’s preview warns that shifting props can trap you: you wait for the “right” shade, the item flips, and you have no legal feed left. Do not wait on a transforming object unless the puzzle walkthrough says that transformation is the point.
Confirmed pantry (demo and launch previews)
These are the objects coverage and playthroughs actually name. This is not a fake 100% spreadsheet.
- Purple grapes — obvious purple. Easy to waste.
- Red gifts — host-apartment clutter. Check wrapping, not just the box.
- Green plant — living pigment. Hheily’s presence already makes plants grow wild; feeding the plant is a statement.
- Blue crawfish — fridge or counter seafood. Easy to miss if you never open cold storage.
- Flora’s flowers — visitor restock. Take them. See the supporting cast.
- Fish food — playthroughs note beta-carotene / orange pigment jokes. Treat orange as its own slot, not as “close enough to red.”
- Fridge, freezer, and counter miscellany — PC Gamer stresses there are plenty of items. Plenty is how people overfeed.
The HUD color dots in the corner of the apartment view are the checklist. Match dots to props. If a dot is still empty, keep spinning the 360 camera as described in how to play.
When to feed versus when to wait
Feed when:
- The flame bar is dropping and you have a duplicate hue.
- A prompt or Hheily’s human form names a color.
- A visitor has just handed you a restock you do not need to hoard.
Wait when:
- You have only one item of that color and the bar is stable.
- An item is mid-shift and you have another source of the same hue.
- You have not answered the door yet. Flora might be about to knock.
The demo’s assistance timer is about ten real minutes. That is enough time to inventory twice. It is not enough time to experiment with every combination. Use the ending checklist if you are trying to see Host, Got Off Easy, Blackout, and the true demo beat on purpose.
What happens if the glow dies
Playthroughs show a sequence where colors leave the world, light goes with them, and the meteorite’s glow snuffs. That is not an instant game over in every branch, but it is the corridor toward Blackout and other failed dates. If you came here from a snuffed flame, reload the save from before the panic dump, then follow the neutral and bad endings page only if you meant to fail.
Extinguishing Hheily on purpose is a different moral choice from starving her by accident. The romance guide and the true ending route both assume you keep her lit.
Light, dark, and why colors matter to the story
Crush Landing is The Colour Out of Space plus The City of the Singing Flame, rewritten as a date. Pigment is not crafting material. It is the comet’s food and the thing the encroaching darkness wants to erase. Uninvited guests are not only broke neighbors. Some of them want the heat of her flame at any cost. Feeding the wrong person, or feeding the rock the last of a hue you needed to stay visible, is how the interplanetary fight leaks into a studio apartment.
If you want the narrative order of feeds rather than the rule, switch to the full walkthrough. If you only wanted the rule: count colors, spend duplicates, take Flora’s flowers, save first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I feed Hheily two items of the same color?
The second item of a spent color does not progress the puzzle. Save unique hues. Restocks like Flora’s flowers are the exception to hunt.
Where do I find blue and purple in the apartment?
Blue crawfish and purple grapes are the named examples. Open the fridge and check fruit bowls. Full table: colored items list.
Should I take Flora’s flowers?
Yes. Previews call her the visitor who can fill missing colors. Slam scammers, not Flora.
The flame went out. Did I lose?
You are on a fail branch. Reload a pre-feed save or read neutral and bad endings if you want to finish that route.
